160 arrests made in drug-dealing crackdown

A TOTAL of 161 arrests and 17 deal lines have been shut down amid a crackdown on drug dealing in the North East.

Last week, police forces and Regional Organised Crime Units took part in a national operation in the fight against County Lines and organised drug supply.
It saw numerous warrants executed across the region, resulting in 17 deal lines shut down, large quantities of Class A and B drugs seized and 161 people arrested. Cash and weapons were also seized during the raids and 14 vulnerable people in the North East were also safeguarded.
