The Sotheby’s auction is full of historic, Empire-era design, from a throne to a gilt-bronze dressing table

From gilt furniture and gold seals to paintings and the unmistakable bicorne hat, a treasure trove of Napoleon artifacts is landing on the auction block next month, News Artnet said.
These objects are coming from the collection of Pierre-Jean Chalençon, Napoleon expert (and apparent fan), who has snapped up hundreds of relics related to the French emperor over many years. So avid is his collecting appetite that he is reportedly forced to sell his Parisian pile, itself a veritable Napoleon shrine, to pay off a substantial debt he accrued through his purchases. About 100 pieces from his hoard will be offered for sale at Sotheby’s Paris on 25 June.
