India houses more than half of the world’s Global Capability Centres

NEW DELHI: India houses nearly 1,700 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) spread across Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities, accounting for around 53% of the total number of GCCs worldwide, according to property consultancy firm Vestian.

From initial focus on IT support and back-office services, GCCs have now become hubs for innovation, research, and development. This transition resulted in a significant increase in the number of GCCs around the world, reaching approximately 3,200 centres.

“India’s leading office markets continue to offer a compelling value proposition to GCCs, characterised by competitive costs, a highly skilled workforce, robust infrastructure, progressive policy incentives, and a conducive business environment. However, selecting the right location remains critical to the long-term success of any GCC,” said Shrinivas Rao, FRICS, CEO, Vestian.
