Accounts range from eerie photographic anomalies to unexplained sensations in historic locations, and although skeptics remain, the phenomenon continues to draw attention from researchers and respected publications alike.

One of the most iconic pieces of purported evidence remains the Brown Lady photograph taken at Raynham Hall in England in 1936. Published in Country Life magazine, the image shows a vaporous figure descending a staircase. Photographer Hubert C. Provand and his assistant Indre Shira claimed they saw the shape with their own eyes before capturing it on film. Paranormal investigator Harry Price later commented that he was “impressed” by their account and saw no reason to believe it was a simple fraud, noting that only collusion would explain the photograph if it were fake.
