Woman is held on suspicion of arson after girl dies in fire

A woman has been arrested after a four-year-old girl died following a house fire in Manchester.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at a property in the Rusholme area of the city at around 12.35pm yesterday. Crews rescued the girl but she later died in hospital from her injuries.
The woman, aged 44, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
A smashed, blackened window could be seen on the top floor of the semi-detached home, indicating the severity of the blaze.
Worshippers from the nearby Celestial Church of Christ helped the family of the girl who neighbours said loved playing out in the quiet cul-de-sac.
