COUNCIL SET TO HIKE THEM BY 4.8 PER CENT IN REVIEW
RENT is set to rise for Kirklees tenants next year as the council publishes its plans for 2026/27.
Kirklees Council is carrying out its annual review of rental charges for next year and plans to up rent by 4.8 per cent, which is inline with national standards. On average, this will result in a weekly uplift of £4.19. Extra Care services are also expected to be increased by 4.8 per cent.
This is set out in a report to next week's Cabinet meeting which also states that service charges will range from 0.01p and £0.87p per week.
On top of these fees, tenants could be paying an extra £2 each week as the government looks at changes to rent convergence - a process used to calculate national standard rents. If the proposed changes are agreed, the increases will come into effect from April 2026.
