Work starts on £37m upgrade of Armada Way

WORK has started to pave the way for a £37m upgrade of Armada Way.
South West Water has begun digging in Plymouth city centre ahead of the planned redevelopment of the thoroughfare.
Shoppers have seen workers and machinery operating in the area close to the Pace De Brest, near the junction with Cornwall Street.
The water company and Plymouth City Council have stressed this is not the start of the planned redevelopment but work that needs to be carried out on an underground sewer before the actual upgrade can start.
Plymouth City Council stressed that decisions on the final scheme are due to be made shortly and said the work underway is to replace elements of a "damaged/broken combined sewer".
