Wildlife centre to shut down

A WILDLIFE rescue centre in Plymouth has announced its shock closure. Athena Wildlife Care has had to close suddenly due to problems with the land.

Lianne Phillips, who runs the rescue centre, says she is "extremely upset", as they were the last wildlife rescue of its kind in Devon and Cornwall.

Athena Wildlife Care is run by a group of volunteers who care and help rehabilitate orphaned and injured animals in Plymouth and surrounding areas. They primarily deal with birds and small mammals but are willing to help any animal however they can.

In a post shared to their Facebook page, Lianne said: "I'm really sorry to say but we are now closed. The place in Horrabridge isn't feasible.
