RNLI 'EXTREMELY BUSY' OVER PAST TWO WEEKS
AS temperatures soar again and tourists flock to the area, the RNLI has issued a warning to both visitors and residents about spring tides and rip tides, after receiving 'a lot of' call outs over an 'extremely busy' past two weeks.
According to staff, there have been 55 shouts on Devon and Cornwall beaches for RNLI lifeguards in the past two weeks.
A spokesperson told the BBC that the majority of lifeguard incidents involved rip currents, particularly on the north coast surf beaches and, while it was not unusual for this time of year, 55 shouts in 14 days was high.
