The Frog in mind when he was thinking of his character Mr Scrooge, but the other main thing which struck me was how there are echoes of that original tale in some of the discourse of our modern day.Scrooge dismisses two men who are collecting for the poor by saying that it may be best to 'decrease the surplus population' in any case, which has something of a modern ring to it, not least when people say Britain is now 'full' and should turn away any refugees seeking shelter here.
