Stevenson is still on course for a hat-trick

SIMON Stevenson blasted through his two games at the King Billy to continue his bid to become the first three-peat Champion of Champions.

The charity event this year is raising money for Spring Intensive Care in honour of the late Sandie Cook, who passed recently after spending over 100 days in the Penrose ICU ward at Derriford Hospital.

Stevenson's (31.31) first 3-0 win was put away in 17, 13 and 18 darts before the second gave him a single dart average of 30.06 thanks to more 17 and 13 darters. Stevenson also helped himself to two maximums, whilst Paul Goundry ended Col Maddocks' tilt at a second title 36 years after a 3-2 win that saw a crucial 117 kill.

Cameron O'Brien faced off against Goundry after a 3-0 win that contained a 116 checkout, a 180 and a 15-darter. O'Brien was once again a 3-0 victor to make his first final's night appearance, and he looks in red hot form to challenge for the title after dispatching his opponent with another 15-dart leg.

Frankie Stout added his name amongst the 16 elite players with a 180 and a 15-dart leg, carrying him to back-to-back 3-0 wins, whilst Mark Shears was also one of the quartet of victors.

At the Fawn, maximums for brothers Scott and Andrew Cook helped them to 3-0 successes in both of their outings.

Scott Lawrey took the scalp of 2018 Champ Neil White 3-0, despite White hitting a maximum of his own in that loss. Lawrey continued his form and went on to qualify with a 3-1 triumph in which Lawrey nailed a 112 three dart combination outshot.

Three time champ, John Mann, narrowly escaped a disastrous early exit by ending the hopes of Simon Washington 3-2, with the defeated party checking 106 in a single visit.

Three of the four last 32 games at the Victory came down to a last leg shootout as Mark Hatherley, Nick Bryant and Dave Lee all prevailed. Bryant and Lee added 180s to their evening's work, whilst Ryan Fuller will join Bryant and Lee in making their final's night first appearance as he made up the four to taste success.
