Spring colours inspire creativity of Tamar Valley artists

ARTISTS inspired by the Tamar Valley's natural beauty are coming together to showcase their latest spring-themed work in an upcoming exhibition.
Around 40 Drawn to the Valley members will exhibit a range of ceramics, jewellery, paintings, prints and sculptures over five days at Plymouth’s Royal William Yard.
Taking place in the Ocean Studios from Wednesday, April 2 to Sunday, April 6, all the pieces on display have been created to reflect the arrival of spring in the Tamar Valley - an area of outstanding natural beauty on the border of Devon and Cornwall.
Drawn to the Valley was formed in 2004 by the artists and creatives themselves. Consisting of over 100 members, the group acts as a focal point for established professional artists, talented amateurs and total beginners.
Among the artists who will be exhibiting their work is Plymouth-based mosaicist, Stuart Morrissey. Having recently presented a mosaic piece to the RSPB, Stuart says that birds have been a “lifelong interest”.
“The chance to craft a mosaic that both promotes the RSPB and shows off my skills was a great opportunity,” he added. “It has given me the theme for my work for the upcoming spring exhibition. Birds made by me will be there, in mosaic form.”
