Role practically perfect for stage star Stefanie

A SPECTACULAR stage version of Mary Poppins which is coming to Theatre Royal Plymouth this month 'has everything, according to its lead actor, Stefanie Jones.
Stefanie is well acquainted with the character from P L Travers' 1934 book, having continued in the role from a tour of Australia in 2022 to the UK and Ireland tour which began last year.
The show is running in Plymouth for four weeks, opening on February 26, and brings a slice of Disney magic to the stage, including spectacular stagecraft, dazzling dance numbers and much-loved musical numbers.
Producer Cameron Mackintosh first unveiled the show in the West End in 2004, and it has been seen worldwide in the two decades since then.
Speaking to The Herald during the show's run in Dublin, Stefanie said the production was a spectacle, but it was the heart of the story which was the secret to its enduring success.
Stefanie said: "There's something about this show which attracts a certain kind of person, and our director Richard Eyre was saying: 'I don't know what it is about this show, we've been doing it for 20 years across the world, and it's always the happiest group of people! "So I really think it's the message of the show and the energy of the show the songs are so good, the book is incredible, it's flawlessly written.
"It's partly spectacle, but also heart.
