FOUR YEARS ON FROM KEYHAM SHOOTINGS, MP CONTINUES FIGHT

- By KIRSTIE McCRUM

A PLYMOUTH MP is pushing “for stronger gun laws” four years on from the shooting in Keyham which claimed the lives of five innocent people. Luke Pollard MP says today is about “those forever changed by the tragedy four years ago today”.

The MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport also cited “toxic culture online” for the mass shooting perpetrated by Jake Davison, 22, on August 12, 2021.

Davison killed his mother Maxine, Lee Martyn, three-year-old Sophie Martyn, Stephen Washington and Kate Shepherd. Two others were also injured.

Luke said: “Plymouth will be thinking of the people we lost and those forever changed by the tragedy four years ago today. It was a wake up call to the dangers of guns and toxic culture online.

“It was also a moment that brought our community together and I remain deeply proud of the way we all stood strong at a moment of loss then and every day since. I remain committed to lobbying for stronger gun laws.
