Police prepared for city weekend protest
The Herald
|May 24, 2025
AN “anti-government” protest - along with a counter rally - is set to take place this weekend in Plymouth city centre, leading to concerns that it could be a repeat of last summer’s violent disorder which saw a number of arrests and jail sentences for those convicted.
The national protest movement against the Labour government has spent the last few weeks announcing where a number of demonstrations - dubbed a “National Strike” by organisers, despite it not being promoted by any unions - will take place.
Plymouth city centre has been listed as one of locations and various social media posts have stated that “The Great British National Strike” will take place at the Sundial, in what organisers have said is on “New George Street”, at 12 noon today.

REGARDING recent newspaper reports about compulsory eye tests for the over-70s, as we have to renew our licences every three years anyway, I really cannot see that this will be a problem for most people of that age.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Although I am well aware that social media is largely an echo chamber that will feed back to you what you search for, there are no shortage of videos and articles about fashionable dressing for men, while vintage clothing is no longer merely bagged up and donated to charity shops but can yield high prices on re-sale sites such as eBay and Vinted.
