Mathias Ross set for Plymouth Argyle debut

TOM Cleverley has confirmed defender Mathias Ross will make his Plymouth Argyle debut in the starting lineup for the Vertu Trophy tie against Cheltenham Town at Home Park tonight (7pm).
The former Denmark under-21 international joined the Pilgrims on a three-year contract on August 21, after leaving top Turkish side Galatasaray in early July and after a wait for his work permit to be granted he has been training with his new teammates over recent days.
Argyle will be without another centre-back, Brendan Galloway, against Cheltenham because he has joined up with the Zimbabwe squad for two 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He will also miss the League One visit of Stockport County to Home Park on Saturday as a result.
Zimbabwe are currently bottom of Group C in the African qualification section for the next World Cup, which is being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Galloway and his international team mates will play Benin this Friday and Rwanda on Tuesday, September 9.
