Ryan Gale, 33, fro London has been sentenced to 25 months in prison DEVON AND CORNWALL POLICE
AN alcoholic with more than 78 criminal offences to his name and a history of theft of booze from shops beat up and threatened to kill a rehab friend when he came to visit him in Cornwall for support.
Ryan Gale had befriended his victim when they were at rehab in 2021.
The pair had kept in touch over the years by text but in October 2024 Gale asked his friend if he could come down and stay with him as he needed support.
His victim invited him to Calling-ton, but Gale, 33, from Diana Close in Sidcup, in South East London, arrived and started taking advantage of the friendship - using his friend’s bank card as his own.
A sentencing hearing at Truro Crown Court on Wednesday heard how on October 18 that year he came back some 90 minutes after borrowing his friend’s bank card, drunk and when challenged “exploded in anger”, He punched his friend in the face several times before grabbing a kitchen knife and hitting him on the fingers.
