HIGH-TECH DISPLAY PROPOSED FOR EXETER ST

A SLEEK new digital installation is being proposed for a prominent location on Exeter Street, marking the latest phase in BT's national roll-out of high-tech Street Hubs aimed at modernising urban infrastructure and enhancing public connectivity.

The planning application, submitted by Verity Cheyne on behalf of BT, seeks permission to install a single Street Hub unit on the pavement outside 184 Exeter Street, Plymouth, PL4 0NQ.

The hub would feature two 75-inch digital LCD display screens, one on each side, for public and commercial messaging. The scheme also includes the removal of a redundant BT telephone kiosk at the same location.

According to the planning documents, Street Hubs are multi-functional units offering free ultrafast WiFi, free phone calls, USB charging, and access to local council services via an interactive touchscreen.
