PILGRIMS PREPARING FOR AN FA CHARGE AFTER LUTON RED CARD

- By CHRIS ERRINGTON

Cleverley set to be absent from the touchline

TOM Cleverley is expected to have to serve a touchline ban when Plymouth Argyle play Peterborough United at Home Park this coming Saturday.

The Argyle head coach received a third yellow card of the campaign in the first half of the incident-packed away game against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road at the weekend, which his side went on to win 3-2.

There is a one-match touchline ban for any ‘technical area occupants’ who are cautioned three times in a season. Cleverley has past experience of that because he had to watch his former club Watford play Argyle in the Championship last November from the Mayflower Grandstand for that reason.

Cleverley went on to be sent-off by referee Ollie Yates in the second half against Luton. While the reason for that was not made clear, Argyle had been aggrieved that decisions and circumstances were going against them at the time.

His red card could result in a misconduct charge from The Football Association, leading to a fine/further suspension, or a warning about his future conduct, or alternatively no further action could be taken, depending on the seriousness of the incident. That should become clearer towards the end of this week and before the visit of Peterborough.
