Advanced technology is not always so clever

WHAT a great idea it was to pay for everything by card instead of fumbling round for cash or having to remember a cheque book.
-
But it had to go too far, didn’t it?
As with so many so-called advancements in technology, no one looked at what could possibly go wrong!
So, after a week in bed with the lurgy and still feeling low, I pulled myself together, got my glass-half-full head on and off we went for a walk along the beach in Budleigh to blow the cobwebs away!
We'll ignore that it was 11am on a Friday and just about everyone else in the South West and beyond appeared to be on the roads. Where are they all going on a Friday morning, anyway? Budleigh apparently... to blow the cobwebs out.
Anyway, we drove into the beautiful little town, “for gentle folk who crave the sea air”, as Sue Lawley once said, and not ‘gentile’ folk as one Facebook page stated. We went straight into the car park, where I was pleased to see there were plenty of spaces.
I sat in the car, while my husband paid with the card and I waited... and waited... and waited.
