'SHARP FALL IN INCOME' MEANS NEED TO SAVE CASH

UP to 200 jobs are at risk at the University of Plymouth as the institution battles a sharp fall in income.

The university has begun consultations with staff and unions and has also put the future of its Levinsky Gallery and Jill Craigie Cinema, which are used by the public, “under review” in an urgent bid to save cash.

The university, which made nearly 100 redundancies last year, said it will try to minimise the number of compulsory job losses this time, but said it had seen costs increase and a 10% drop in income.
