Stelling vows to stand with fans - in disguise if needed

Jeff Stelling is willing to dig out his old Blues Brothers costume to sneak into Hartlepool's matches this season, with the club's former honorary president at loggerheads with the owner, Raj Singh.

A letter from Singh, which was reported by the Guardian, asked fellow National League clubs not to allow Stelling into their boardrooms for fixtures this season. The lifelong Hartlepool fan and former Sky Sports presenter resigned in May as honorary president at Victoria Park after a disagreement with Singh after talks of a proposed takeover of the club stalled. A group led by the local businesswoman Shirley Hammond is understood to have grown frustrated that talks have slowed.

After receiving support from Hartlepool fans, Stelling wrote on social media on Tuesday: "Once a Poolie, always a Poolie. Might have to disguise myself in my Blues Brothers outfit from a couple of years ago to get into the Vic but will be at many away games."
