South Korea says it will restart loudspeaker propaganda broadcasts into the North, after Pyongyang sent hundreds more rubbish-filled balloons across the border.

South Korea to restart loudspeaker propaganda broadcasts to North after balloons cross border

"We will install loudspeakers against North Korea today and carry out the broadcast," the president's office said yesterday.

North Korea sent more than 300 rubbish-filled balloons across the border on Saturday, Seoul's military said. The president's office said it had been forced to take "corresponding measures". It added: "The responsibility for the escalation of tension between the two Koreas will be entirely up to the North.

"Although the measures we are taking may be difficult for the North Korean regime to endure, they will deliver messages of light and hope to the North Korean military and citizens."
