Police raid homes in Kashmir days after Delhi car bomb attack

Police have carried out raids and made arrests across the Indian state of Kashmir in connection with an alleged terror network in the aftermath of a car explosion in Delhi that left 13 people dead.

The blast occurred outside one of India's most significant monuments at rush-hour on Monday evening. On Wednesday, the government said it was treating the explosion as a "terror incident" perpetrated by "anti-national forces".

Initially, eight people were confirmed dead, but the figure had risen to 13 by yesterday as more victims died from their injuries. It was one of the deadliest terror attacks to target India's capital in more than a decade.

India's prime minister, Narendra Modi, described the incident as a conspiracy, while his home minister, Amit Shah, pledged to “hunt down each and every culprit”.

Officially, the authorities have yet to make any formal announcement about who they believe is behind the attack. Yet unofficially, Indian investigators have said inquiries are ongoing into alleged links to “an interstate and transnational terror module” that was exposed by police in the days before the explosion.
