Pharma firm GSK pauses diversity policies in UK, citing Trump's executive orders

The British pharma company GSK has paused diversity targets for UK workers, claiming it is obliged to do so in response to executive orders signed by Donald Trump.
The FTSE 100 company has also scrubbed references to diversity from its website. The GSK chief executive, Emma Walmsley, is one of the few women to lead a FTSE 100 company.
Trump took aim at efforts to increase the representation of minorities in workplaces after starting his second term. His executive orders sought to ban federal agencies and contractors from having diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) targets.
The orders have faced challenges in US courts, but that has not stopped a procession of US companies including Goldman Sachs, Walmart, McDonald's, Ford, Amazon and the Facebook owner Meta from rushing to remove their own diversity policies. BlackRock, the world's largest investor, yesterday joined them, saying it would abandon targets of increased representation of minorities in its workforce.
