Pence takes on ex-boss Trump with run for the White House

Mike Pence, who as Donald Trump's vice-president narrowly escaped harm at the hands of Capitol rioters in January 2021, has declared his candidacy for the Republican US presidential nomination next year, pitting him against his former boss.
Pence has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission, but is to formally launch his bid for the Republican nomination with a video and event in Des Moines, Iowa, tomorrow - his 64th birthday.
