Hottest day of the year so far as highs of 23.4C recorded across the UK

The UK experienced its warmest day of the year so far yesterday, as temperatures reached 23.4C in some areas.
The Met Office said it was "very warm for early April across the south", adding that it was the warmest day since 21 September.
Temperatures reached 23.4C in Otterbourne, Hampshire, and Wiggonholt, West Sussex, yesterday afternoon.
But in Scotland and northern parts of England, the weather was much chillier, with thermometers reaching 8C in Edinburgh.
The previous hottest day of 2025 so far was on 20 March, when 21.3C was recorded in Northolt, west London.
Last month England had its sunniest March on record and its sixth driest March since records began in 1836, according to the Met Office.
Tesco said there had been a surge in shoppers buying barbecue products. The retailer predicted weekend sales of 1m packs of sausages, almost 1m packs of barbecue rolls, and 1.7m packs of ice-creams.
