Incredible-looking models fronting recent fashion campaigns will surprise no one, but the fact that many happen to be in their 80s is less run of the mill
This week, the Spanish fashion brand Loewe announced the 88-year-old actor and master of transfiguration Dame Maggie Smith as the new face of its spring/summer 2024 pre-collection campaign.
For many Harry Potter fans, the sight of Prof Minerva McGonagall, given a high-fashion makeover in a shaggy brown coat that would make Hagrid run for his life, was magical.
"Professor high fashion," said one comment underneath a shot on Loewe's Instagram account. "100 points for Gryffindor," remarked another.
That Loewe was using Smith is "fairly groundbreaking", said Rebecca Valentine, the managing director of Grey Model Agency, the only British agency dedicated to models aged 35 and over.
