British dual nationals risk being denied entry without UK passport
The Guardian
|February 14, 2026
Dual British nationals have been warned they may be denied boarding flights, ferries or trains to the UK after 25 February unless they carry a valid British passport rather than the passport of their alternative nationality.
The Home Office warning comes amid scores of complaints from British people living or travelling abroad suddenly finding they are at risk of not being able to get into the country.
The problem stems from new border controls taking effect from 25 February, when everyone travelling to Britain will need permission to travel, unless they are a British or Irish citizen or are otherwise exempt.
