Bank 'very proud' of its time in charge of failing Thames Water

The investment bank that sold Thames Water after loading it with debt says it is "very proud" of its record even though the utility company is fighting for survival.
Australia's Macquarie, which led a consortium that owned Thames from 2006 to 2017, has been criticised by some politicians and analysts over its control of the business, accusing the bank of setting it on course for financial collapse.
Thames supplies water and sewerage services to 16 million customers in London and south-east England.
However, it is close to collapse with debts of nearly £20bn forcing it to obtain court approval for £3bn in emergency funding this year.
Macquarie's critics argue that the bank set Thames on the course to ruin.
