Waterfront urban park project is making progress

THE Stockton Waterfront urban park project is “on track” for next spring according to council leaders, with an oval lawn and amphitheatre to take shape in the town centre.

Ten-metre-tall timber towers have been installed for a new play attraction, and an amphitheatre with 402 granite steps is on the way, with an “exhilarating 6m slide from the amphitheatre to the riverside” along with “play on the way” features. Paving has been laid at the new area dubbed Finkle Square, with more being placed across the park’s oval lawn.

Councillor Paul Rowling, deputy council leader and cabinet member for resources and transport, said: “The new play attraction is getting installed, that’s made up of two 10m towers and there’s a range of play equipment. There’s some quite big slides.
