TONY Pulis insists Middlesbrough supporters should never lose sight of how important Steve Gibson is, saying owners like him can often be under-appreciated.

Gibson has continued to put as much money as he possibly can into the football club, per the Championship's PSR rules. In total, his investment into Boro is now over £250m. Last year, he wrote off almost £150m of debt owed to him by converting it into shares.

The increasingly difficult financial landscape that Boro operate in currently means Boro have to be more sustainable and increase revenue through player sales though, in order to be able to sign better players while staying within the means of financial regulations. That strategy has angered some supporters, but Pulis, who worked under Gibson for a season and a half while in charge at Boro, insists he remains a huge asset to the club.
