King falls flat after he dethrones Monarchs

A WEEKEND that began so encouragingly ended in worrying fashion with Danny King crashing out and damaging the hand he had an operation on last season.
The Bears’ victory at home to Edinburgh Monarchs was followed by defeat at Berwick on Saturday, with King - an instrumental figure in Friday’s win - falling in his first race.
While much may have been made of the strength of Redcar's trio of national champion heat-leaders, it was increasingly confident reserves Ace Pijper and Jody Scott who proved to be the difference as the Bears held off a strong challenge from Edinburgh at the ECCO Arena.
