THIS week we are on recess (Parliamentary term for holiday) so I headed to the Hay Festival in Wales.

- TANNI GREY-THOMPSON

It started in 1987 and now it is no longer one event, but runs projects all over the world from Cartagena in Colombia to Peru, Mexico, Spain and the USA.

I had two roles this year. The first was to sit on the daily news panel where a panel of three discussed what was making the headlines that day.

This panel was made up of Ash Sarkar, who is a journalist and libertarian communist political activist, and the other panel member was Mary Trump, niece of the President of the USA, and I could have talked to both of them for hours. We had one hour. We went in hard.
