'I'm back to my old self'

Raj Gil has never been the kind of person to sit back and let life pass her by. “I'm a social person and have always been very active,” says Raj, 51, from Glasgow. But when she began getting pains in her feet, she became sedentary and gradually piled on the pounds.

“My feet often felt stiff and achy,” she says. “It's so silly, but I did nothing about it, even though the discomfort was stopping me keeping active.”

Like most problems, ignoring the situation didn't help. “When I saw that I'd put on 2st, it was a real wake-up call,” Raj says. “I realised I had to do something about it. I wanted to get back to my active lifestyle.”
