Driver who 'rarely drinks' caught over the limit again

A BUSINESS owner who consumes alcohol “very rarely” has been caught drink driving again but must wait to learn his fate.

There was a “strong smell” of alcohol coming from the car Jody Warwick was driving when he was stopped by police on May 23.

The 44-year-old, who had been out for tea with his mam, admitted to drinking “a few hours ago”.

And a breath test confirmed he was over the limit. Checks also revealed that there was a warrant outstanding for him, since 2022.

Teesside Magistrates' Court heard how Warwick was disqualified from driving between May, 2021 and July, 2022.

However, he was caught behind the wheel by a police officer patrolling the A19 on February 18, 2022.

The officer stopped the Nissan Qashqai and Warwick admitted he was banned from driving. The Middlesbrough court heard that a warrant was issued after Warwick was convicted of that offence.
