Dad and son in brutal attack at pizza shop
The Gazette
|September 25, 2025
A FATHER and son's display of “mindless violence” led to a man requiring screws being inserted into his jaw.
Anthony Flynn and his dad Shaun Flynn’s night “turned into a nightmare” during an attack in a Redcar pizza shop which was “clearly self-defence gone too far”,
Teesside Crown Court heard that the victim was warned to leave 37-year-old paratrooper Anthony and his 64-year-old father alone, by another customer, on November 2, 2021.
The victim noticed Anthony Flynn’s accent and kept calling him a “West Ham supporter’, in Gemini’s Pizza, on Redcar High Street, the court was told.
David Ward, mitigating for the Flynns, said that the man “made stabbing motions” at Anthony Flynn. “He keeps coming backwards and forwards, and he's been clearly told to stop,’ Mr Ward told the court, “he has constantly been told to go away. This is not a defence for what they did.
“He’s clearly causing problems for these two men. Drink was involved and the night has turned into a nightmare. It was clearly self-defence gone too far.”
