MIDDLESBROUGH’S recruitment team will meet with impending new head coach Rob Edwards soon after his appointment to discuss and finalise summer transfer plans.

- By CRAIG JOHNS

Edwards is expected to be announced as Boro's new boss in the coming days after impressing club officials during the interview process.

As well as an extensive understanding of the Championship and what it takes to have success in the division, he is also said to have displayed plenty of knowledge about the playing squad he'll inherit at Boro too.

Edwards will no doubt have a busy first week in the role as he makes final preparations at Rockliffe before the players return for the start of pre-season at the back end of next week.

And among those initial tasks will be sitting down with Boro transfer bosses to discuss summer plans.
