Beggar banned from town centre

A BEGGAR who was reported repeatedly for verbal abuse and “aggressive drinking” has been banned from a town centre.
Lee Percival was given a Criminal Behaviour Order, which means the 40-year-old cannot enter Norton town centre or carry an open alcohol container while in public. It came after numerous reports of nuisance behaviour and begging, particularly near the fountain area at Norton Duck Pond.
The order will last for two years. If found to have breached the terms, Percival, of no fixed abode, could be fined or sent to jail.
Sergeant Adam Todd, from Cleveland Police's divert and civil order team, described it as a great outcome.
