FUNDING FOR THORNTREE AND CENTRAL STOCKTON AS TVCA MISSES OUT
TWO Teesside neighbourhoods have seen some money thrown their way in this year’s spending review.
Meanwhile, Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) missed out on £30m that other combined authorities received. As Chancellor Rachel Reeves delivered the Spending Review in the House of Commons, which sets out how much money government departments will get in future years.
Middlesbrough got a mention by name as the chancellor plugged last week's transport announcement, which will see the town’s railway station gain cash for the construction of a third platform.
As part of the spending review, the Government announced 25 ‘trailblazer neighbourhoods’ that will receive up to £20m over the next decade as part of a new fund. This forms part of communities funding for up to 350 places, announced yesterday.
The Government asserts that the investment will support communities to drive forward the changes they want to see in their neighbourhoods and will support improvements people can see on their doorstep, as well as championing local leadership, fostering community engagement and strengthening social cohesion.
