A friend revealed the other day when I met with him at the mall that it took him years to pursue his studies because of his mother’s opinion of him.
Growing up, he was told that he was born a loser, and this affected him deeply for many many years. Only after some time (he is now in his early fifties) did he realize that if he ever wanted to reach his dreams — to be a certified professional — he should not be a prisoner of his mother’s opinion of him.
He wasted so many years because of how maligned he was, wasting years believing that he was a loser when he was not.
Now, he is a college professor in a university and is working on pursuing advanced studies.
Author Tony Fahkry, in his website, has this to say on the matter: “What others think of you needn’t determine your reality because people’s opinions are not based on facts, only opinions.
