Tropical Depression Opong (international name: Bualoi) has intensified and is now a direct threat to the Visayas region, with Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 raised over Samar, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Opong is estimated to be at 815 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao.
The storm is moving west-southwestward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), with maximum sustained winds of 85 kph and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
