LIFE'S ESSENCE

During a quiet moment one morning, I could not help but look around my house.

It seemed like it was only yesterday when it was reverberating with laughter from my five children and the five wards whom I adopted.

Those were really fun times... everyone contributed to make the days really full of activity, so much so that my nephew, who is now priest assigned in Germany, once commented that the house was like a mall.

These days, a silence fills the house, a silence that reminds me that nothing lasts forever - be it people and circumstances.

Truly, Buddha was right when he said that attachment leads to suffering. True indeed, I have learned that there's power in learning to let go and move on, otherwise I'd be living in the past and fail to see the promise of the present.
