As Mandaue City falls under the territorial jurisdiction of Cebu Province, Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano has pledged his full support for Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro, expressing his commitment to collaborate closely with the provincial government, particularly on initiatives and services that aim to benefit the city and its people.

“Full support to Governor Pam,” said the mayor.

Ouano shared that a few weeks ago, there were efforts to serve as a bridge between him and Baricuatro to help open lines of communication, especially since both are heading new administrations.

Ouano now leads Mandaue City, succeeding former Mayor Glenn Bercede, while Baricuatro heads the Cebu Provincial Government, taking over from former governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

However, Ouano admitted that since he only recently assumed office, his schedule has been packed, and he has not yet had the opportunity to meet with Baricuatro as they are both still settling into their new roles.

“Pero, full support to the new governor kung unsay matabang namo sa city,” said Ouano.

Ouano likewise said that he remains open to collaborating closely with the Capitol.
