Go filed a proposed ordinance seeking to hold establishments liable for serving alcoholic drinks to visibly-intoxicated persons who later cause injury, death, or property damage.This newspaper positioned itself against holding drinking establishments responsible for the actions and choices of their patrons after they leave. We believe that drinking establishments shouldn't be blamed the same way as the driver.
It seems we aren't alone, because Councilor Winston Pepito has also voiced opposition to the proposed “Kingston Ralph Ordinance”.
