Imee calls for cautious diplomacy
The Freeman
|July 24, 2025
Even as hopes rise for stronger alliances, Senator Imee R. Marcos is calling for cautious diplomacy, warning against compromises that could undermine Philippine sovereignty.
-
"Trade must be a partnership, not a surrender. If we give away our rights today, we sell out the future of every Filipino," the senator said, urging her brother to safeguard national interests in the negotiations.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. held key meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump from July 20 to 22, aiming to boost bilateral security ties and economic cooperation.
