Fallen tree crushes 6-yr-old boy to death

A six-year-old boy died after being hit by a falling decayed buri tree in Barangay Ibabao, Estancia, Mandaue City.
The victim, identified as Christian Quilaton Jr., was under the care of his grandfather while his parents were at work. The child had been playing along the road when the old tree suddenly collapsed, trapping him beneath its heavy trunk.
His grandfather, Jebilitar Quilaton, recalled the heartbreaking moment when he turned away for just a brief second, only to return and find his grandson pinned under the fallen tree.
"Mao nay sakit kaayo nako kay ako'y nagbantay unya wala jud ko katabang," Jebilitar lamented.
Christian's wake is currently being held in Zone Ahos, Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.
The youngest of three children, Christian was dearly loved by his family. His mother, Gebe Quilaton, who works at the Mactan Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) in Lapu-Lapu City, recalled the devastating moment she received the news of her son's passing.
