The Department of Science and Technology Region VII (DOST-7) won the Best Paper Award at the 4th International Conference on Governance and Development (ICGD4) held from July 30 to August 2, 2025, at Kasetsart University in Thailand.

The award-winning study, “Sociospatial Determinants of Innovation Adoption in a Small Island Fish Drying Community in Bantayan, Cebu, Philippines: A Quantitative Assessment”, was coauthored by Aileen V. Lapitan, Rodmyr F. Datoon, Agnes C. Rola, and Dinah Pura T. Depositaro, and presented by Dr. Tristan L. Abando.
DOST-7’s win highlighted its commitment to science-based, community-responsive development for resilient island communities.
The research provided a framework that integrates geographic isolation, social networks, and institutional linkages into science and technology (S&T) interventions, enhancing DOST’s community empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program.
