CV posts downtrend inflation rate in May

Central Visayas’ inflation rate in May decelerated to 0.9 percent from 2.0 percent in April, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-7 yesterday.
This is lower than the 4.2 percent inflation rate in May last year.
PSA-7 Officer-In-Charge Regional Director Wilma Pernate attributed the food and non-alcoholic beverages as the major driver of the downtrend in regional inflation, with a shared 74.6 percent to the overall decline.
“The deceleration of the inflation rate in May 2025 from April 2025 was primarily brought about by the annual price decrease of 1.3 percent in the food and non-alcoholic beverages from 0.9 percent in April 2025,” said Pernate.
