Central Visayas inflation rises to 6% in February

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported that inflation in Central Visayas has increased to 6 percent in February 2026, higher than the 5.6 percent recorded in January.

The latest data indicate that prices of basic goods and services in the region continued to rise, with food items—key components of household spending—among the main drivers of the increase.

PSA said the faster rise in the prices of food and nonalcoholic beverages was the primary contributor to the higher inflation rate.

“The primary source of the uptrend in regional inflation was the faster annual increase in the prices of food and nonalcoholic beverages,” said Engr. Leopoldo P. Alfanta Jr., chief statistical specialist of the PSA Cebu Provincial Statistical Office.

Food inflation in the region climbed to 9.3 percent in February, up from 8.2 percent in January, contributing 49.9 percent to the overall regional inflation rate.
